An interstate exposure visit and orientation training programme for Extension Officers from the Department of Agriculture, Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, was organized at ICAR–Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI), Regional Station, Kayamkulam on 27 July 2026.

The programme commenced with an introductory remarks by Dr. Regi J. Thomas, Head of the Regional Station, who highlighted the major achievements and research contributions of the station in plantation crop research and development.

During the technical session, Dr. K. Nihad, Senior Scientist, presented the major technologies developed and released by ICAR-CPCRI, with special emphasis on improved production technologies and innovations for coconut cultivation. This was followed by an informative session on pest and disease management in coconut delivered by Dr. Josephrajkumar, who discussed the latest management strategies and integrated approaches for sustainable crop protection.

The visiting officers were also taken on a guided tour of the experimental fields of the Regional Station, where they were introduced to ongoing research trials, demonstration plots, and various technologies under evaluation. The exposure visit provided the participants with valuable insights into advanced production and crop protection technologies, facilitating knowledge exchange between the Department of Agriculture, Tamil Nadu, and ICAR-CPCRI.The programme was coordinated by Dr.K.Nihad and Dr.S.Neenu.
