Training Programme for ATMA Trainees from Udayamperoor Krishi Bhavan

A one-day training programme was organized for the ATMA trainees comprising 12 male and 8 female farmers from Udayamperoor Krishi Bhavan at the ICAR–Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI), Regional Station, Kayamkulam, on 10 July 2026. The programme aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the trainees on scientific coconut cultivation, improved crop management practices, and the latest technologies developed by ICAR–CPCRI for sustainable plantation crop production. The programme commenced with a welcome and an introduction to the activities and mandate of ICAR–CPCRI. Technical sessions covered the following topics:
Coconut-based cropping systems including Fruit crops, Coconut production and cultivation technologies, Integrated nutrient management for sustainable coconut cultivation, Integrated pest and disease management in coconut, Processing and Value addition.
The trainees also participated in a field visit to the experimental plots, where scientists demonstrated various ongoing research trials, improved cultivation practices, and innovative technologies developed by the institute for enhancing coconut productivity. An interactive discussion was held during the programme, in which the trainees clarified their queries regarding coconut cultivation, pest and disease management, nutrient management, and Processing and Value addition. The scientists provided practical recommendations based on local farming conditions. The training programme significantly improved the participants' understanding of scientific coconut cultivation and sustainable crop management practices.
