Khet Bachao Abhiyan was organized at Palthady, Kadaba Tk., Dakshina Kannada Dt., Karnataka. Dr. Nagaraja, N.R., Senior Scientist (Plant Breeding), ICAR-Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Regional Station, Vittal and Dr. Bhavishya, Scientist (SPM&AP), ICAR-Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Regional Station, Vittal, Coordinated the programme. The Khet Bachao Abhiyan was inaugurated by Shri Balappa Poojari, Progressive Farmer and Director, Kadaba Taluk Krishika Samaja, Smt. Indira, B.K., Vice President, Puttur Women Cooperative Society and Shri Vasantha Shetty, Panchayat Development Officer, Savanoor Grama Panchayat, offered felicitations to the programme. Shri Annapoorna Prasad Rai, Vice President, Bambila Milk Producers Cooperative Society, Shri Suresh Bambiladola, Director, Bambila Milk Producers Cooperative Society, Shri Girishankar Sulaya, President, Savanoor Kaniyoor Farmer Producer Company, Smt. Jayanthi, Krishi Sakhi, Smt. Hemalatha, Pashu Sakhi and others were present.
Dr. Nagaraja, N.R., Senior Scientist, ICAR-CPCRI, Regional Station, Vittal, Dr. Bhavishya, Scientist, ICAR-CPCRI, Regional Station, Vittal and Shri Shivaprakash, Assistant Director of Horticulture, Dept. of Horticulture, Puttur, were participated as Resource Persons and interacted with the participants on ICAR-CPCRI in the service of farming community, technologies of ICAR-CPCRI for increasing farmers income, importance of balanced and scientific nutrient management practices to enhance the crop productivity and sustain soil health, organic alternatives to chemical fertilizers, schemes/ programmes of Dept. of Horticulture. Detailed discussions were held on soil test based integrated nutrients management, time of application, method of application, techniques to improve nutrients use efficiency etc. Trichoderma was distributed to participants. Fifty-five participants, including 12 female and 43 male farmers attended the programme and got benefitted, at the end of the programme participants expressed their happiness about the programme.
