PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana

PM launched PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana & Pulse Mission from Pusa, New Delhi. Live webcast and farmers interaction were held at CPCRI, Kasaragod, presided over by the Director. Dr. K. Inbasekar IAS, District Collector was the Chief Gest, Prime Minister unveiled 42000 crores worth schemes. He mentioned this historical day for farmers, dairymen and fishermen got benefitted by the convergence of schemes through PMDDKY & Pulses mission. This will completely change the farming pattern and modernization of agriculture of the selected districts. Priority is to achieve protein rich pulses self sufficiency. Districts can design and plan, implementation. Coastal seaweed farming also mentioned by the PM. He indicated how India stands first in Milk, leads in fisheries and it is the growing environment for agriculture in the last 11 years. He remembered the Aakankshi Zila yojana is the conceptual motivation factor for this scheme. Criterion for selection of districts were: Less farms being cultivated, Nos. on cycles cultivated are less and Low investment on agriculture, During the live telecast Sri Shivaraj Singh Chauhan, has emphasised on the benefits of GST for farmers. He acknowledged PMs vision for self reliant India.

District Collector inaugurated the programme at CPCRI, Kasaragod. Backward 100 districts are selected nationwide for these 36 convergence of schemes. True farmers should take up the programmes. Parappa in Kasaragod has already become a model. Same model will be duplicated all over the district. He assured practical approach to tackle wildlife posing problems to farming.

Director presided over the function. He highlighted PMDDKY & Pulses mission, 1100 projects of 42000 crore worth as 6-years programme. To uplift agricultural sector in Kasaragod, it is one among the 100 districts. Objective is that Bharat should become self sufficient in pulses. Scientific soil conservation is also another objective, Sri Raghavendra, PAO, Kasaragod highlighted the background, integration and plan of the PMDDKY programme. He indicated priority areas such as drip irrigation, credits from banks, MIDH, etc.

Sri K. Manikantan, enlighted the audience on the importance of pulses such as blackgram, green gram, cowpea, red gram, horse gram, etc. Short duration pulse crops of 60 days yielding are good under Kasaragod condition. Dharwad and Salem are the places from where seeds can be procured, Sri Ananda, Project Director, ATMA, Kasaragod, was present, Natural farming community master trainers were distributed with certificates by the DC, Natural farming interaction with Dr. Surekha and Farmer Scientist interaction, followed by field visit were part of the programme, Dr. K. Ponnusamy, HoD, Social Science was the coordinator of the programme, Around 250 stakeholders participated.
