Exposure cum experience sharing visit of FFP turmeric women farmer group

An exposure cum experience sharing visit of 20 women farmers of the ‘turmeric cluster’ of ward 19 of FFP area organized on 2.2.2018. The farm women visited the turmeric processing unit of women group of Bharanikkavu Grama Panchayath for learning from their experiences, seeing and understanding the operations, the process and the marketing networks for establishing ‘ Turmeric processing Unit’ based on their community based turmeric cultivation. The unit could also cater the marketing and value addition of the turmeric to be cultivated in extended areas during this year. The visit was very useful in terms of practical points emanated and described, familiarizing with the machineries, licenses and good practices to be followed in an enterprise, risks that may be faced during the running of an enterprise, pricing market and strategies. The visit was very useful and it was decided to form a facilitating committee for the turmeric cluster for planning the activities and making the venture sustainable. Smt. Soumya Syam, Ward Member (Ward XIX) proposed vote of thanks and expressed her support for the establishment and management of the turmeric cultivation and processing of produce for value addition and improving the income for cluster farmers of FFP panchayath.
