Farmers FIRST Programme, ICAR- CPCRI


Training program on ‘Scientific management of coconut based farming system for sustainable income’ was organized during 5.10.2017 to 7.10.2017 at Kareelakulangara (Ward 16) for ward 1, 15, 16 and 19 of the FFP area – Pathiyoor Panchayat, FFP area.

A total of 60 farmers including rural youths, women farmers and traditional farmers attended and participated in the programme. The farmers were sensitized on recent advances in integrated nutrition, pest & disease management of coconut based farming system and utilization of bio-resources in coconut based farming system. The three days training programme was designed to make farmers equipped in adopting and integrating the available technologies in the field level diagnosis and effective management of pest and diseases. A session on mother palm selection and nursery management was also conducted in order to meet the objective of quality planting material production in root (wilt) disease endemic areas. The final session of the training programme was the participatory farm planning by the farmers. All the participants prepared their resource based farm plan with knowledge gained during the training facilitated by the scientists and feasibility of the plan was evaluated. Certificates and training manual were issued to the successful participants during the valedictory function.
