Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Sports & Youth Affairs, Govt. of Goa, Shri Ramesh Tawadkar visited Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI),  Kasaragod on 13 & 14 September, 2015 to study the various farmer-friendly technologies developed by CPCRI and could be easily implemented under Goa conditions.

Minister expressed his high impression and told that ‘the technologies developed by CPCRI may help Goa to develop tourist hub and empower small and marginal farmers by utilizing Kalparasa Technology and its value added products.’. 

“The Snow Ball Tender Nut technology of CPCRI should find place in resorts and hotels in Goa to attract specially foreign tourists” minister said.   

The Minister was accompanied by present and former Director of Agriculture, Zonal Agricultural Officers, other State Govt. Officials and farmers.

The delegation visited different experimental plots, Kalparasa (Neera) collection and processing technology and Agro-processing Centre at CPCRI.

Dr. P. Chowdappa, Director, CPCRI briefed the research highlights and various commercializable technologies and said “ In the era of declining land, water and agriculture, coconut based cropping  and farming system can enhance the productivity and input efficiency and high returns and to empower youth and women in rural area”.

Dr. K.B. Hebbar, Head, Division of PB&PHT; Dr. H.P. Maheswarappa, Project Coordinator (Palms), Dr. Ravi Bhat, Head, Division of Crop Production, Dr. Vinayaka Hegde, Head, Division of Crop Protection, Dr. K. Muralidharan, Acting Head, Division of Social Science and all other scientists participated during interaction.
